Small Hotels on Avenida Revolución

Petit Hotel Hafa is the red facade on Revolución: eight rooms, Moroccan-meets-Mexican decor and a small pool on the rooftop terrace. Bar Le Zouave is right next door. Hotel Riviera Sayulita, at number 89, is all suites inspired by Huichol culture, each with a fridge, a stovetop and a microwave.

Bungalows Jaqueline, at 52A, rents one- and two-bedroom bungalows with their own kitchens, set around a pool and a garden. Puerto Sayulita Hotel is the modern one, a multi-story building with a heated pool and parking on site. Riviera’s pool is indoors, so it still works on a rainy afternoon.

The One on the Sand

Azul Pitaya sits at Avenida del Palmar 12, with its own stretch of beach where the loungers and hammocks are free for guests. There’s a children’s pool beside the big one, a bar and a restaurant, and breakfast is included. Every room has a balcony and a full kitchen, and the front desk runs 24 hours.

Adults Only Up the Hill, or a Pool on the Roof

Avela sits on Libramiento Punta Mita, on Gringo Hill, just above Centro. The saltwater pool and hot tub are the heart of it, breakfast is served beside them, and the spa is on site. The hotel rents golf carts, which beat walking the hill in the heat.

Rather have the view without the climb? Sayulinda Hotel, a few steps from Playa Sayulita, has a rooftop infinity pool that looks over the whole town and the Pacific. Its Bar del Patrón serves craft cocktails. Go up at sunset.
