Cafés in Sayulita

Sayulita is close enough to Mexico’s coffee-growing states that some cafés here work much further up the chain than a beach town usually does. One roasts its own specialty beans in town and sells them by the bag to take home. Another pours coffee grown and roasted at the family’s own farm in San Sebastián, up in the Sierra behind the coast. That is a meaningful difference from a café buying pre-ground commodity coffee, and it is worth asking about: the people behind the counter will tell you where the beans came from, and in a few cases the answer is a place they can drive to.

Plant-based is not a niche request in Sayulita and you will not have to negotiate for it. Around half the cafés in the directory flag vegan or vegetarian options on the menu itself, coconut and almond milk are standard rather than a surcharge conversation, and açaí and smoothie bowls are common enough to be a category of their own. Gluten-free options are thinner on the ground but present. The practical advice is the same as for hours: check the listing before you walk, because the places that cater for this properly say so, and the ones that do not are equally honest about it.
