Not really. Sayulita is a bar town: live music rooms, beach clubs and a late bar or two that pours until 2am. For a proper club, Puerto Vallarta is less than an hour’s drive south.

Most close between 11pm and midnight. Cava and Latitude 20 pour until 2am every night. Hours shift with the season, so tap a bar before you walk over.

Thursday through Saturday, when most of the music rooms have something on. Monday is salsa on the beach at Don Pedro’s, and Wednesday is salsa at Latitude 20. In the rainy season, some bars cut their hours or close for a while.

Not after 8pm. In July 2025, Bahía de Banderas, the municipality Sayulita belongs to, announced that drinking on its beaches stops at 8pm. After that, take your drink to a bar.

Generally yes, inside the walkable center, which stays busy and lit until the bars close. Nayarit sits at the US State Department’s Level 2, the same tier as much of Western Europe, and there are no restrictions on US government staff traveling here.

Watch your drink, and stay on lit streets once you leave the busy blocks. Canada’s travel advice warns that some bars in Mexico have served unregulated alcohol, so if a place feels off, order a sealed beer. There’s more in the Sayulita safety guide.

On foot, if you’re staying in the center. White taxis wait near the plaza for rides up the hill or out of town, and if your villa is up a jungle road, book a driver before you head out. And don’t drive a golf cart home after drinks.

Some do, but plenty of the smaller bars would rather have cash. Bring pesos, with a few small bills for the band’s tip jar.

Away from the plaza. The north end and the hills above town are quieter, and the south side toward Playa de los Muertos is calmer still. If you want to walk home in five minutes, stay central and pack earplugs.
