El Camarón

El Camarón, also listed as Club de Playa Camarón, is a beach bar on the sand where Sayulita's beach runs north, the stretch guides call Playa Norte, quieter than the main beach. It shares its address on Avenida del Palmar with El Palmar del Camarón, a campground renting tent space and palapas under the palms, and the hippie market is a short walk away. The bar is simple: a roof of dried palm fronds, plank flooring, Adirondack chairs out front, and on party nights a DJ playing reggaeton, reggae and electro-cumbia. Dogs are welcome. The food is casual. One 2026 reviewer recommends the shrimp pâté and claiming a chair out front in the afternoon; micheladas, beer with lime, salt and chile sauce, are recommended more than once. Friday is the late night, open until about 3 a.m., with a beach party. In 2019 El Universal described a tradition of bar-hopping downtown and ending the night at Palmar del Camarón. Most 2026 listings show noon to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday and noon to midnight on weekends, though older guides say it only opened on Fridays, so calling ahead is wise. One 2026 guide lists it as cash only.
