Four things are worth knowing before you pick. The tacos are the best cheap meal in town. The seafood comes off the coast you can see from the table. A handful of places put your chair on the sand, and the beach clubs add a sunbed to lunch. And the Mexican kitchens worth sitting down in are mostly on Avenida Revolución.
Most nights you just turn up: only 18 places take a reservation. Beyond the four below, there is proper Italian and pizza, a serious run of plant-based kitchens, and the cafés the whole surf town runs on.

For something looser, Estrella de Mar on Avenida del Palmar does ceviche, marlin tacos and tostadas a short walk from the beach. On the north side, Carbón puts tuna tostadas and grilled octopus over charcoal.

Casa La ExperienciaSayulita Café has been on Revolución since 2001, and the chile relleno is the reason: cheese, chicken or shrimp under the house sauce. Restaurant Rosita is where to go for birria and menudo.
