Abarrotes Cortes
Market & Grocery

Abarrotes Cortés is a neighborhood grocery store on Punta de Mita, at the south end of Sayulita a few blocks below the centro. Google Maps lists it as a food shop. It opens early in the morning and stays open into the evening Monday through Saturday, and it closes on Sundays. The shop shares its block with Depósito El Aguaje, the drinks depot on Calle Valadão, which makes this part of town a practical single stop for groceries and beverages. Spanish is the language at the counter. The name describes the format. In Mexico a tienda de abarrotes is the everyday food store of a neighborhood, and the Mexican version often sells part of its stock loose or by weight, such as fruit, vegetables and dairy. Punta de Mita has more than one of these shops: a few blocks east along the same street, Abarrotes La China opens seven days a week. Between the two, the southern side of Sayulita keeps everyday groceries close at hand, without a trip into the centro.
