La Orca de Sayulita is a whale-watching and whale-research company with its office at Miramar #19 in Sayulita. The 3-hour tours leave from the south end of Sayulita beach, where the fishing boats sit, in a 27 ft panga run by local captains, with up to 8 guests and a biologist guide on board. A hydrophone lets you listen to humpback whale song under the boat, and life jackets, water and light snacks are included. Tours run in whale season, December to March, and part of the income goes to the company's whale research surveys in Nayarit. Private boats and longer trips to Chacala and Isla Isabel are also offered.
