Sayulita Animals

SayulitAnimals is a donation-funded animal welfare non-profit that has worked in Sayulita since 2009. Sara Briner, whom the group presents as its founder and president, settled in town in 2005; its site says she runs it with a small team of staff and volunteers. The work covers spay and neuter surgery, foster care, adoption, medical aid for street dogs and cats, and education. It is not a shelter and does not take in strays; animals awaiting adoption live with local foster families. The sterilization clinic runs on Wednesdays, by appointment only, booked by phone or at the office on Calle Manuel M. Plascencia. Pets and strays are both accepted. As of October 2026 the clinic page lists it as by donation, with a suggested donation of 500 pesos. Animals must fast overnight; owners are asked to bring a leash for dogs and a secure carrier for cats. The group's own tally shows 633 sterilizations in 2024. Visitors flying home can accompany an animal headed to a new home, with at least 48 hours' notice, and the group accepts supplies, airline points and money. Its donate page has a button marked "donation with tax receipt (US/CAD)" linking to an outside site.
