Don Juan's sits along the highway toward Punta de Mita, just outside the center of Sayulita, well away from the plaza-to-beach foot traffic. Reviewers put it at about a ten-minute walk from the plaza, and there is a parking lot on site. Posted hours are 8am to 10pm, Tuesday to Sunday, closed Mondays. The building looks modest from the road, but reviewers describe a clean, rustic, ranch-style dining room inside, plus tables outdoors. Its Sayulita Life listing, verified since 2013, calls it family-owned. The menu is mostly Mexican with some international plates; reviews from 2024 and 2025 name enchiladas suizas, chile relleno, coconut shrimp, the Desayuno Norteño breakfast plate and chicken piccata. The dish that recurs in reviews from 2020 through 2024 is chiles en nogada: a poblano chile stuffed with minced meat and fruit, under a creamy walnut sauce with pomegranate seeds on top. A Puebla dish in the colors of the Mexican flag, it is traditionally served in August and September, though reviewers have had it here in March, October and November. Several reviews praise the margaritas, and the full bar also pours beer, wine and cocktails. There are vegetarian and vegan options, takeout, and cards are accepted.
